The Colonies
Four colonies have been defined so far in the world After the Collapse. Many others remain to be described, but for now we have four:
- Colony Alpha
- Colony Beta
- Colony Epsilon
- Colony Theta
Of these four, only Colony Theta (Col-T) is not on the continental United States, buried instead somewhere in Australia.
Colony Alpha is located near the US Capital, just outside Huntingdon Pennsylvania. It was the first US Colony built and was designed to hold around 1000 people: the president, congress, the supreme court, and various other officials and support personnel.
Colony Beta is the second US Colony, built in the Nevada desert. It was designed to hold a large population, in excess of one million people. While Col-A is meant to ensure the survival of national government, Col-B is meant to safeguard the nation's citizens, enough to repopulate after a worst-case scenario.
Days before Colony Beta's doors were to be sealed forever, one of the members of the Colony Governing Council, Colin Graves, declared himself the sole colony leader. He used his control over the colony police to oust most of the other governors. At least one remained uncaptured and hidden within the colony when the doors were sealed: Jack Marten.
Colony Epsilon was built in the mountains of Colorado, less than two hours drive North West of Cheyenne Mountain. It was meant to hold a sizable population, similar to Col-B, though Col-E will house mostly technical personnel and research scientists. Col-E was still under construction when the Tyrathi attacked and remains uncompleted.
A Tyrathi Warship was stationed over Colony Epsilon when the nuclear launch was ordered. The only known survivor was Nelson Kossman. He was several levels deep in the colony attempting to repel the Tyrathi ground grew, and was protected from the initial impact and radiation. The lingering radiation awoke his latent psychic abilities which he used to manipulate the radiation to simulate the effects of fantasy magic.
